Roohoo is the mastermind of Children’s TV Producer/Director Aliex Yuill
Aliex has spent over 11 years developing, producing and directing many well know television shows, working across channels for CBeebies, CiTV, Nickelodeon and Cartoonito.
She played a key development role in the BAFTA nominated CBeebies show The Story Makers in which she also began her career as Jelly, one of the most successful puppet characters on children’s television.
She has worked and presented alongside the likes of Bill Oddie and Sir David Attenborough and in 2007 Aliex won her first BAFTA for her development and directing work on CBeebies Springwatch.
Her passion is working with children “At Roohoo our mission is to empower children to celebrate, cherish and love their young lives. To recognize the beauty in themselves and what they have, to explorer their potential and to capture their hopes and dreams” and so in 2010 Roohoo Films was born.
“I had the idea a few years ago whilst working in TV, every time I left a child’s house after filming they would be bursting with excitement and parents would say what a fantastic experience it had been for them. They were often amazed at how much it bough the kids out of themselves. I thought how amazing it would be to create tailor made films for children, where the aim was not just appearing on TV, but about celebrating and remembering childhood.”
Making memories, playing, dancing, creating, and finding a sense of self, these are all things that are part of the creative process of making a Roohoo Film.
